ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Elise. I'm so glad you're here!
My love of photography started in high school, thanks to a quirky teacher and the magic of the darkroom. Many moons later, I discovered that same love carried into capturing the wild, wonderful personalities of children—shoutout to my darling niece, Elle, for being the original muse.
Fun fact: I chose my first manual digital camera—a Nikon—because Paul Simon mentions it in Kodachrome. (Honestly, is there a better way to decide?)
In 2011, with a gentle nudge from my amazing husband, I officially launched my photography business. I took a few incredible workshops in San Francisco, but for the most part, I’m self-taught and constantly learning. I nerd out on online photography classes—thank you, internet.
In 2019, I committed to a 365 project—one photo every day for a year—and it changed everything. That’s where my love for documentary-style photography was born: the everyday, unfiltered, full-of-heart kind of moments. Then came 2020, and with it, a deeper shift in how I wanted to photograph life. I started embracing the tension of the “and.”
Life is extraordinary and ordinary.
It’s beautiful and messy.
Motherhood is joyful and exhausting.
The days feel long and gone in a blink.
I believe the polished family portraits are lovely and that there's room for the real stuff, too—the moments you didn’t plan, but will never want to forget. I want to give you both. The posed and the beautifully real. Let’s make something honest, full of heart, and totally you.
I hope we get to work together soon.
